Type Locality and Naming

Along the Kyzylangur Ridge, left bank of the Gelandary River, Southwest Gissar. I.M. Abdazimova, A.A. Trenbach in 1977 (Shvets et al., 1991). Stratotype at the Kyzylangur Ridge, 2 km west of the village of Gilan.

Synonym: Kyzylangurskaya Formation, Кызылангурская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Fine-pebble conglomerates, gravellites, gravelly sandstones, whitish-blue-gray with layers of clayey limestones with marine bivalves and gastropods. Thickness 30-100 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It lies with erosion on the Karakuz Fm

Upper contact

It is overlain with erosion by the Jetymtau Fm (Dzhetyimtau Fm).
